The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!  Please let me introduce myself!  My name is Michelle.  This is a photo of me before my life fell apart.

Then, I would have continued my introduction by saying, ‘I am a full time career woman and a proud mother’.  I likely would have boasted about the hard work I’ve done throughout my 15 year career in the financial industry.  How I’ve built a respectable reputation as a hard working, passionate professional.  Through no fault of any employer, what I wouldn’t have told you about is the stress, anxiety, and my inability to maintain a healthy work/life balance. I’ve simply always put too much pressure on myself and in hindsight, am certain I suffered from some sort of anxiety disorder. This is a photo of me now.

It’s been 3 months since my hair started growing back from the chemotherapy I took after receiving a sudden and life-threatening diagnosis of Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia in December 2017.  I invite you to peruse my blog where you’ll learn about who I am and why, my life journey pre, during and post cancer.  I am confident that, along the way, you will learn a thing or two to help you on your own journey as well.  Whether that be as a fighter, a survivor, a caregiver, a supporter or just someone in pursuit of your higher self.  Enjoy!

Michelle is a highly driven, ambitious woman who gratefully possesses a love of learning and a passion for personal growth which support her ongoing healing and career growth. As a mother of two incredible young girls, a wife, and a patient advocate, and most recently, an author, she has not allowed her December 2017 diagnosis of Acute Leukemia stop her from making and achieving goals. She felt compelled to start SoYouveGotCancer.ca to help people and their loved ones feel more empowered and informed throughout their own healing journey.
